Now that I'm older, there's nothing quite like cuddling up to "It's a Wonderful Life" or "Miracle on 34th Street". For whatever reason, though, Ralphie and his Red Ryder BB gun get me everytime.
This afternoon, my husband called saying that one of the malls was having their Christmas "Open House" to prepare for the holidays. It sounded like fun, so we bundled the kids up (they could put their arms down) and off we went.
Unreal. It was the most fun time. The kids were able to see Santa, take a train ride, get lots of free goodies and snacks and even go sledding. There's no snow mind you, but somehow they brought it in. My jaw dropped as I had visions of Ralphie and his little brother Randy getting "pushed" down the slide in the movie. Adam and I both thought the same thing and started to laugh as the kids went flying by.
Needless to say, the night was filled with cold pink cheeks, warm hot chocolate, candy canes, Santa and even a little bit of "the white stuff". It was definitely a fun time that I hope the kids will remember. I'll bet that even Ralphie himself would have enjoyed it...with or without the slide.
