Seriously Pinterest...I Hate You

I have a total love/hate relationship with Pinterest.  I love it...and it hates me.
It taunts me with its fancy pages of, "Look at me.  Look at my awesomeness.  If you had any skills at all, you could do this too."
I find great ideas and cute crafts, then think about doing them.  Note the word, "think".  Most of the time that's as far as I'll get, but every once in a while, I'll totally go for it.
Take Groundhog's Day for instance.  If you've followed this blog, you already know about my mad Pinterest skills.  I can take an adorable idea like this:
Picture
And make it even more amazing, like this:
Picture
Yep.  It was so incredible that the kids didn't even know what to say.
My latest bout with Pinterest came tonight.  Our daughter's dolls have all gone through some strange sort of wind tunnel of doom.  For some reason, they all have crazy hair that could house small colonies of rats.
Turning to (what else but) Pinterest, I found the answer to my prayers.  You don't have to throw those dolls away, noooooo.  You don't have to cut their hair.  All you have to do is mix two tablespoons of liquid fabric softener with eight ounces of water and spray it throughout the doll's hair.  Easy enough, right?  What could be better?!
We started with who else, but her Tangled doll, Rapunzel.

Our daughter mixed the magic potion...

                  ...sprayed her doll's hair.

            Then brushed...and brushed...and brushed.
Picture
And dag-gone it Pinterest if you didn't get me again.  The pictures you showed were of beautiful, gorgeous results.
Picture
Ummm, yeah.  Pretty close to how ours turned out too.
Picture
We decided to work on Doc McStuffins for another try.
Picture
Picture
And ooooh, Pinterest.  How you get to me so.  The fantastic results that you promised like this...
Picture
...in reality, end up for those of us who are the Pinterworst...like this.

Our last and final attempt is going to be with Belle from Beauty and the Beast.  It makes me nervous because she is our daughter's favorite.  I hope when their hair dries, it will be a little better - but who am I kidding?
I know I need to just stop pretending that anything I see on Pinterest will come out half as well once I try to do it.  It's a vicious cycle - and I can't seem to get off this train.
I'll be sure to fill you in on any remedy or recipe I try that actually does work, if such a thing exists.
Until then Pinterest, I'll be watching you.  Aaaalways watching...

It sure does Charmia! I spend more time thinking, "Hey, I'll try that!" than I'd like to admit. There really are some cute things though. Miss and Love You!!!

Good luck! If indeed the pinterest pictures are truly after pics, I would be asking what they used to brush with and for how long. I have 4 girls and have had to deal with this more times than I can count! I do remember using either mixture of fabric softener and water or hair condition and water, but the key was my patient brushing afterwards with either a wide tooth comb or pick. A wig brush would probably work too. but anytime a regular hairbrush touched the dolls' hair, it was pretty much guaranteed to make a rat's nest. I would usually lay a towel in my lap and work on it while watching t.v. (like several shows or a movie per doll). Hope it goes better with your last doll.

I don't have a Pinterest account, but I see it's shares on FB and have had a hit or miss relationship with them. Things you have to make, I usually fail at. Things you break (pant/skirt hangers you break the clips off to make chip clip things), 50/50. I agree, these people who post these things must have mad skills. Or lots of time and patience. So they must not be parents, but grandparents instead. :D

I needed a good laugh! You should have seen the watermelon cake I made last week for the 4th. My entire family refused to even taste it! Found on Pinterest, of course!

Took Lainey and her babies too American Girl they sprayed something on babies hair then brushed it like a wild person so I would say you probably got this right...lol The hair dresser said most people don't get the babes hair wet enough....thank goodness it was only a doll she was rough....

How old was Lainey when she got into American Girl dolls Bobbie? Lauren has no idea about them yet, but she's only five. I didn't know when it started? She LOVES her baby dolls but holy moly is she rough with them. I'm stiff arming the American Girl dolls as long as I can but they're so cute! :P

Education is used to enlighten the individual. It makes people successful in their particular fields. Education discovers the talent of people which they cannot recognize. Education helps to remove the ignorance from people.
