One of the best parts of keeping a blog is that it's pretty much like a journal. I love to write for the kids and have their days documented. My hope is that when they're older, they can read through the pages and remember.
Today is the last full day of school for Christian and Ethan so their backpacks came home yesterday, loaded down with their end of the year supplies. When going through the piles, I was surprised to find that Ethan had a Second Grade journal that he kept during class.
His year was held between the pages and it was I who got to see the days through his eyes and smile.

WINTER THINGS
I have two favorite things about winter. These winter things are snow and snowball fights. My first favorite thing is snow. I like snow because it reminds me of sliding down the snow on a tube. My second favorite winter thing is snowball fights. I like snowball fights because they remind me of big pieces of snow flying through the air. My two favorite winter things make me feel warm and happy inside my heart.
Sitting with him this morning, we giggled and read about everything from his favorite Christmas present to a day of our family cat. Little did I know that he was writing throughout the year as well.
Summer will be a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of school but I hope that he'll find the time to sneak away and write.
Even if just a little, it will be fun one day for him to read about his eight year old summer and the adventures he once had.
