School starts in a little less than two weeks for the boys and we officially have nothing ready...I mean nothing. We were given an entire supply list that was supposed to be purchased before their first day, but staying true to form, we haven't even started on it yet.
Don't get me wrong...I actually like getting school supplies. I might be giving away my level of "nerdy-ness," but there's just something about the smell of a brand new box of crayons that makes me happy.
What I don't like though, is waiting until the last minute. We scurry through the stores with the masses of people who all have that crazed look in their eyes. You often hear them muttering something about spiral bound notebooks or specific types of pencils. "Number two pencils, Number two pencils...where are the NUMBER TWO PENCILS?!"
This weekend being "tax free" makes it even crazier.
I swore last year that we would never do it again and I'll bet that this Saturday afternoon, I'll be swearing the same thing.
Yes, we only have a few more days to get everything on their lists before they're off to school. I can see them now with their backpacks, short haircuts and clean (for ten minutes) new shoes.
When they get to their classrooms I want them to feel prepared and ready for the start of a good year. I can't help but secretly hope though, that when they open their supplies and find the smell of their brand new box of crayons, that it will make them happy too.
Happy Back to School!
