Take for instance, the day my Mom showed up and surprised him. It sent him to the moon. He jumped up and down and couldn't wait to hug her and show her his backpack...then she took him out for an ice cream cone.
There was the after school "big boy" haircut. He had the biggest smile just hoping that he would get a lollipop when he was done.
The kicker of all days was when we happened to see a fire truck parked outside of the grocery store. Preston just about fell over. He waved to the fire fighters and they not only waved back, they took him over, let him look in the truck, gave him a fireman's hat and "high fived" him. He got back in the car and didn't say a word for the next five minutes. He just sat there and smiled.
Yes, it will be interesting when I pick him up today to see how he reacts when we "just go home". No Grammie, ice cream, lollipops or fire trucks. Just plain ol' mom and little sister...and a hug and kiss or two.
